Each year there are ROUGHLY 2,000,000 HS Athletes fighting for ONLY 100,000 college roster spots. Obviously, it is EXTREMELY competitive, so today I wanted to share a video with you that tells you a TYPICAL College Coach’s Recruiting System, so you can have a better understanding of how this process works.
In the video YOU will learn:
1. What is the most important variable that you CAN control as a family in the college recruiting process?
2. What is the “College Recruiting Funnel” and how does it affect your college recruiting process?
3. What does each type of communication from college coaches mean for YOU?
If you begin to understand this process/funnel, you will have a much better understanding of what YOU must be doing as a family to maximize your college recruiting opportunities.
One of the greatest myths I find in the college recruiting process is that your high school or club coach is going to do this for you. DO NOT kid yourself, the average high school coach knows about 5 college coaches…and typically they are local coaches. Obviously, some coaches know a lot more and some know a lot less. The KEY for you is to take control of YOUR athletic recruiting process, so you can be sure that you are maximizing ALL of your opportunities.
I know that high school coaches have HUGE hearts and they want what is best for their kids, and the unfortunate reality is that they just do not have enough time in the day to help all of their kids get athletic scholarships. It is important that you keep an outstanding relationship with your high school coach because more than likely a college coach is going to speak with your high school coach for a recommendation about you and your work ethic.
If you have a different experience of college coaches, or an experiece that you think would be valuable for families to know about please share it in the COMMENTS section. Thanks.
